Playing Pocket Aces Not Always a Winning Deal
It may seem when you have a pair of aces that there’s no way that anybody in poker can beat you. The unfortunate truth is that they can. It is, however, absolutely inebriating to look down and see two aces. Don’t let this article change that sensation, just take it as a word of caution against thinking that two aces are the unbeatable hand in poker. It’s absolutely true that in the vast majority of rounds, a pair of aces will surely be the winning hand. It is not the case though that a pair of aces will always be able to beat everyone at the table; surely you will be able to beat most of the people, but somebody else at the table could, possibly, be just as lucky as you in that same very hand. Treat pocket aces as a top hand; you should always bet high with two aces; you’ve got such a strong chance of coming out on the top that you should not play this hand tightly just because it’s possible that you could lose in the end. It is not likely that you will be beaten with this hand; possible, but not likely.
Especially when newer players are at the table, who might be collecting low cards or something strange that you would probably never do, think of pocket aces as a great hand, but literally, no hand is unbeatable. A sample strategy for playing pocket aces: you’ll want to raise the bets. Most times, depending on the number of opponents you have at your table, the others will meet your bets and somebody might raise you. Of course, you should continue and call their bet. You should even raise them again. If you’re playing without limits, you should raise a lot! This could end up being one of the biggest wins of the night for you, and with a hand like two aces, you should be quite confident that you will win the pot. Being quite confident that the pot will be yours, you obviously want the pot to be as big as it can possibly be. Otherwise, you’ve won, but the amount is what’s important. Make your pocket aces pay out as big as they should. Don’t let this stellar hand slip through the cracks and get you only a small pot in the end.
Make sure that you are playing your hands with opportunities like pocket aces in mind. If you are the kind of player who sits back and only waits for good hands, only playing the best of the best hands, then your opponents will know right away from your bets that you have an awesome hand. In that case, they will all simply fold, and you will, indeed, be the winner, but the winner of a pretty minimal pot. Playing pocket aces, in this kind of situation doesn’t get you very far; you’ve got an awesome hand to play, but it doesn’t pay out as well as it should. You’re not getting its full worth out of it if you’re only winning the entering pot value. This is just one manner in which pocket aces don’t end up in your favour. Overzealousness can also cause pocket aces to fail in the end. Either way, playing super tight or playing super loose will end up making you pay in the end, big time. Prepare yourself for something like pocket aces by playing in the middle of the field—from there, anything is possible, and that is, of course, what you ultimately want. Only when anything is possible can you set yourself up for a significant win.
