When You’re Not Face to Face – Recognizing Online Poker Tells
In a traditional game of face-to-face poker, tells are defined as any noticeable habit, physical reaction, or behavior that gives other players clues about what kind of hand you have. Because online players do not have the advantage of actually seeing their opponents they must rely on the other player’s actions to give away their hands.
While not always the most reliable tell, the stall is something that you should watch to determine betting patterns. The stall is defined as a player taking a long time to make their decision. With more and more players playing numerous games at the same time and experienced players doing it to throe you off (a reverse tell), the stall has become a less reliable tell.
